Practice with the question paper you already have
ExamDesk is a free practice tool for turning a paper into a timed test in your browser. It offers exam presets and familiar navigation without an account. It is independent practice software, not an official examination platform.
Prepare your paper
Import ExamDesk JSON, or use PDF or numbered text. For a complex PDF, copy the conversion prompt from the app into an AI chat with your paper and answer key, then import the JSON it returns. Check AI conversions for mistakes before relying on a score.
Choose sections and time
Take a full paper or select only the sections you want to practise. Section practice has a preset time allowance that you can reduce for a shorter session.
Begin, answer and review
Questions stay hidden during setup. The timer starts when you confirm Begin test. Save responses, mark questions for review, and see your response review after submission. A usable answer key is needed for scoring.
Exam presets for focused practice
Default section practice allowances in ExamDesk
| Preset | Sections | Time per selected section |
| CAT | VARC, DILR, QA | 40 minutes |
| JEE Main | Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics | 60 minutes |
| NEET UG | Physics, Chemistry, Biology | 60 minutes |
| GATE | General Aptitude, Subject | 90 minutes |
These are practice settings. In particular, GATE's equal section allowances are a practice split of its total duration, not official sectional time limits. Use the current official bulletin for your exam's rules. The Custom preset supports other papers.
Questions before your first attempt
Can I practise just one or two sections?
Yes. Import your paper, choose Selected sections under Practice scope, and select the sections you want. Reduce the time for each selected section if you want a shorter session.
Will I see the questions before the test?
The normal setup and start confirmation hide the questions. The optional paper editor reveals questions and answers, so it is intended for preparing or correcting a paper.
How do answers and scoring work?
Include the answer key in your imported JSON. Multiple-choice keys refer to a choice; numerical keys are the actual numerical answer. Missing or invalid keys leave questions unscored. AI-generated keys are labelled and scores using them are provisional.
Does every PDF import perfectly?
No. PDF layouts vary, and scanned pages may need OCR. For complex papers, use the AI conversion prompt and import standard JSON. Preserve the printed option order and numerical answer types when preparing the paper.
Where are my papers and responses stored?
Paper processing and attempt storage happen in your browser. Clearing this site's storage can remove saved attempts. Export results you want to keep. If you use an external AI service, you share the paper with that service yourself. Read the privacy information for storage and ad details.
Are there ads during a test?
No ad placements appear in the timed test or paper editor. Setup and results can show a labelled advertisement. On wide screens it sits beside the workspace; on smaller screens it follows the content.
